Wirewater
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006637
The water that drains through the forming fabric, or wire, from the pulp slurry during the papermaking process. This filtrate contains fine cellulose fibers, fillers like clay or calcium carbonate, and chemical additives that were not retained in the paper sheet. The collected wirewater is recycled back into the stock preparation system to recover materials and reduce freshwater consumption, forming a key part of the mill's water circuit management.
