Couching fabric

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001377

A continuous woven belt, often made of synthetic fibers, used in the wet end of a paper machine to support the newly formed paper web. It carries the delicate web from the forming wire through the couch roll, where excess water is removed by suction. This fabric prevents damage to the fragile sheet before it gains sufficient strength to be self-supporting.
