Sodium adsorption ratio
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005442
A measure used to assess the suitability of water for irrigation and the potential for sodium to accumulate in soil. It is calculated from the concentrations of sodium, calcium, and magnesium ions in the water. A high SAR value indicates a greater risk of soil sodicity, which can degrade soil structure.
