Shunter

A small locomotive used for moving railway cars within a rail yard, siding, or industrial facility, also known as a switcher. Shunters are designed for low-speed, high-tractive-effort operations, enabling them to assemble and disassemble trains by moving rolling stock between different tracks. These locomotives are not intended for main-line service and are characterized by high visibility from the cab for precise maneuvering.
