Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-007239

A temporary mold or framework, usually made of wood, steel, or plastic panels, into which wet concrete is poured to form a desired shape. This process, known as shuttering or formwork, contains the concrete and supports it until it has cured and gained sufficient strength to be self-supporting. After the concrete has set, the shuttering is stripped away to reveal the finished structural element.
