Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005375
A portion of a wildland fire that crosses a control line or natural barrier, such as a road or river, and begins to spread into unburned fuel. This indicates a breach in containment and requires immediate suppression efforts to prevent further fire growth. Slopovers can rapidly expand the fire perimeter and complicate control strategies.
