Sodbuster plough

A heavy-duty moldboard plow designed for breaking up tough, virgin prairie sod with dense root systems. Its strong frame and large, sharp share could cut through the matted roots of native grasses to prepare the land for cultivation. This implement was instrumental in the agricultural development of the American Great Plains during the late 19th century.
