Spinout
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005530
A loss of vehicle control where the rear wheels lose traction and swing outwards, causing the vehicle to rotate sideways or backwards. It occurs when cornering forces exceed the tires' grip, often due to excessive speed, sudden steering inputs, or slippery road conditions. A front-wheel-drive car tends to understeer, while a rear-wheel-drive car is more prone to oversteer, which can lead to a spinout.
