A unit of area measurement used in roofing, equivalent to 100 square feet. This unit simplifies the estimation and ordering of roofing materials, as shingles and other coverings are packaged and sold based on how many squares they cover. For example, a roof with an area of 250 square feet would require 2.5 squares of material.
