Thumper

A single-cylinder four-stroke engine, or a motorcycle powered by one, named for the slow, heavy beat of its exhaust. Large single-cylinder engines of this kind power many off-road and dual-sport motorcycles. The word is also used for a truck-mounted source that thumps the ground to send seismic waves into rock during geophysical surveys.
