Streamer

A long, buoyant cable containing hydrophones, towed behind a seismic vessel to detect reflected acoustic waves from subsurface geological formations. These devices are used in marine seismic surveys to map the structure of the seafloor and underlying rock layers for oil and gas exploration. Streamers can extend for several kilometers and contain thousands of hydrophones.
