Tubbing

A method of lining mine shafts or tunnels with watertight segments, typically made of cast iron or concrete, to prevent water ingress. These segments are bolted together to form a continuous, impermeable barrier against groundwater. This technique is frequently employed in shafts sunk through water-bearing strata to maintain dry working conditions.
