Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006308

A set of cables, hoses, and connectors that links a launch vehicle or spacecraft to ground support equipment on the launch pad. The umbilicals are designed to detach automatically from the vehicle at or just after engine ignition, retracting quickly to avoid contact with the ascending rocket.
