Underkill
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006335
Insufficient scrapping of parts caused by inspection criteria that are too lenient, so defective items pass as good. It is the opposite of overkill, in which good parts are rejected because the criteria are too strict. Overkill wastes good product, while underkill lets defects escape to later stages or to customers.
