Underlay

A material, such as paper or cardboard, placed beneath a printing plate or block to raise its height. This adjustment compensates for variations in plate thickness or press impression, achieving uniform pressure across the printing surface. Proper underlaying prevents uneven ink transfer and image quality issues.
