The right, granted by a landowner or authority, to drain water from a mine through adjacent lands. This legal easement was necessary for mines to discharge water from pumping operations into a nearby stream or watercourse without trespassing or causing uncompensated damage. The agreement would specify the route of the drainage channel, or adit, and any associated fees or conditions for its use.
