Abatement

The reduction, elimination, or mitigation of a hazard, nuisance, or harmful condition that could lead to a loss. In risk management, abatement measures are implemented to prevent or lessen the severity of potential claims. Examples include removing asbestos, repairing faulty wiring, or installing sprinkler systems to reduce fire risk.
