Accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D)

An insurance policy or rider that pays a specified benefit if the insured dies as a result of an accident or suffers the loss of a limb, sight, or hearing due to an accident. The benefit amount for dismemberment is typically a percentage of the principal sum. AD&D coverage provides financial protection against severe accidental injuries or fatalities.
