Accidental means

Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-000295

A legal concept in insurance that distinguishes between an accidental result and an accidental cause of injury or death. For coverage under policies requiring "accidental means," both the cause and the result of the injury must be accidental. This interpretation is often narrower than simply requiring an "accidental bodily injury" and has been a source of litigation.
