Accidental death

A death resulting directly and independently from an unforeseen and unintentional event, rather than from illness, disease, or natural causes. Life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment policies contain specific definitions and criteria for what constitutes an accidental death to determine eligibility for benefits. Policies often include exclusions for deaths resulting from suicide, war, or participation in specified high-risk activities, which are not considered accidental for coverage purposes.
