Accommodation line
Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-000296
A line of insurance that an underwriter agrees to write as a favor to a valued agent or broker, even though the specific risk does not meet the insurer's normal underwriting guidelines. This is done to secure or maintain a larger, more profitable account or a strong business relationship with the producer. The insurer accepts the single substandard risk in the expectation that the overall book of business from that source will remain profitable.
