Undue hardship

A defense available to an employer under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for not providing a specific reasonable accommodation that would cause substantial difficulty or expense. The assessment considers the nature and cost of the accommodation in relation to the employer's size, financial resources, and the nature of its operations. An accommodation that is merely inconvenient or moderately costly does not typically meet the threshold for undue hardship.
