Rate on line (ROL)

The ratio of the premium paid for a layer of reinsurance to the limit of that layer, expressed as a percentage. It indicates the cost of reinsurance coverage relative to the amount of coverage purchased. A higher rate on line suggests a more expensive reinsurance layer, often due to higher perceived risk or market conditions.
