An insurance company that has been evaluated by an independent rating agency, such as A.M. Best, Standard & Poor's, or Moody's, for its financial strength and ability to meet its policyholder obligations. These ratings provide an objective assessment of an insurer's solvency and stability. A higher rating generally indicates a stronger financial position and greater security for policyholders.
