Fixed benefit

A predetermined amount of money paid to a policyholder or beneficiary upon the occurrence of a specific insured event, regardless of the actual expenses incurred. This type of benefit is common in life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment policies, and some health insurance plans. The payout amount is established when the policy is issued.
