A professional who investigates insurance claims to determine the extent of the insurer's liability and the amount of loss or damage. Adjusters evaluate policy coverage, inspect damages, interview witnesses, and negotiate settlements with policyholders. They may be employed by the insurer, work independently, or represent the insured.
