Deadheading
Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-001076
The operation of an empty vehicle, such as a truck or taxi, to or from a location where it will pick up or has dropped off a load or passengers. This practice is a factor in calculating operational efficiency and fuel consumption for commercial fleets. Insurance policies for commercial vehicles often consider deadheading when assessing risk and setting premiums, as it still involves exposure to road hazards.
