Dirty bomb

A speculative radiological dispersal device (RDD) that combines conventional explosives with radioactive material. Its primary purpose is to spread radioactive contamination over a wide area, causing panic and requiring extensive cleanup, rather than causing mass casualties from the explosion itself. While the immediate health effects from radiation exposure may be limited, the economic and psychological impact could be substantial.
