Discovery period

A specified time after a claims-made policy has expired during which the insured can report claims for wrongful acts that occurred during the policy period. This provision, also known as an extended reporting period, allows coverage for claims that are made after the policy ends but arise from events that took place while it was active. The length of this period, which can range from 30 days to several years, is defined in the policy.
