Idiopathic injury

An injury arising from an unknown or obscure cause, often related to a pre-existing condition or an internal bodily weakness of the individual. In workers' compensation, an injury is considered idiopathic if it results solely from a personal condition and not from a hazard or risk specific to the employment. Compensation for such injuries depends on whether the employment contributed to the incident.
