Master policy

A single insurance contract issued to an organization or group, such as an employer, association, or trust, that covers multiple individuals or entities under its terms. Each covered individual or entity receives a certificate of insurance as proof of coverage under the master policy. This arrangement is common in group life, health, and some property insurance programs.
