Work-related psychological or emotional conditions that arise without an accompanying physical injury, such as post-traumatic stress disorder resulting from a traumatic event at work. These claims are challenging to prove in workers' compensation systems due to the subjective nature of mental distress. State laws vary significantly regarding the compensability of these types of injuries.
