Morale hazard
Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-002227
A hazard that arises from an individual's careless or indifferent attitude towards preventing a loss, often stemming from a belief that insurance will cover any damages. This differs from moral hazard, which involves intentional actions. An example is leaving car keys in an unlocked vehicle, knowing that theft would be covered by an auto insurance policy.
