Negligent entrustment

The act of providing an instrumentality, such as a vehicle or a dangerous object, to another person whom the entruster knows or should know is likely to use it in a manner involving an unreasonable risk of harm. This doctrine holds the entruster liable for injuries caused by the entrusted item. It is frequently applied in cases involving motor vehicles, firearms, or other potentially hazardous equipment.
