Discovery rule

A legal principle that postpones the running of a statute of limitations until the injured party discovers, or reasonably should have discovered, the injury or damage. This rule prevents a claim from being barred before the claimant even knows they have a cause of action. It is frequently applied in cases involving latent injuries or professional malpractice.
