Contra proferentem rule
Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-000939
A legal principle stating that any ambiguity in a contract should be interpreted against the party who drafted it. In insurance, this means that if a policy's language is unclear, it will be construed in favor of the policyholder and against the insurer. This rule aims to protect policyholders who typically have less bargaining power in drafting insurance contracts.
