Borrowed servant rule

A legal doctrine that determines which employer is liable for the actions of an employee who is temporarily working for another employer. Under this rule, the temporary or 'borrowing' employer may be held responsible if they had the right to control the manner and means of the employee's work at the time of the incident. This rule is particularly relevant in workers' compensation and general liability claims involving leased or temporary staff.
