Occupational classification

A system for categorizing jobs and industries based on the nature of the work performed and the associated hazards. Insurers use these classifications to assess risk and determine appropriate workers' compensation premium rates for employers. Each classification code reflects the expected frequency and severity of workplace injuries for that type of employment.
