Ordinary construction

A classification of building construction used by insurers to assess fire risk, characterized by exterior walls of masonry or other non-combustible materials, but with interior structural components (floors, roofs, and their supports) made wholly or partly of wood. This type of construction presents a moderate fire risk due to the combustible interior elements. It is one of several construction classes used in property underwriting.
