Building construction categories (ISO)

Classifications developed by the Insurance Services Office (ISO) to categorize buildings based on their construction materials and fire-resistive qualities. These categories, such as frame, jointed masonry, noncombustible, masonry noncombustible, modified fire resistive, and fire resistive, influence the fire hazard and, consequently, the insurance premium. Each category reflects different levels of susceptibility to fire damage and structural integrity.
