Outstanding loss reserves (OSLR)

An insurer's estimate of its future liability for claims that have been reported but not yet settled or paid. This figure, also called outstanding loss reserves (OSLR), represents the total amount of money set aside to cover the costs of all open claims, including expected payments to claimants and related legal and administrative expenses. OSLR is a major liability on an insurer's balance sheet and is distinct from reserves for incurred but not reported (IBNR) losses.
