A healthcare professional, hospital, or facility that has a contractual agreement with an insurance plan or managed care organization. These providers agree to accept the insurer's negotiated rates as payment in full for services rendered to plan members. Patients using participating providers generally incur lower out-of-pocket costs, such as reduced co-payments or deductibles, compared to using out-of-network providers.
