Provider
Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-002744
An individual or entity that supplies healthcare services, such as a doctor, hospital, or clinic. In health insurance, providers may be part of an insurer's network, agreeing to accept discounted rates in exchange for access to the insurer's members. A Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) requires members to use in-network providers, while a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) offers more flexibility with different cost-sharing for out-of-network care.
