Proportional liability

A legal principle where multiple parties responsible for a loss are held liable only for their respective share of fault. This contrasts with joint and several liability, where each party can be held responsible for the entire loss. Many jurisdictions have adopted proportional liability for certain types of claims, particularly in professional negligence cases.
