Quota share reinsurance

A type of proportional reinsurance where the reinsurer accepts a fixed percentage of every risk underwritten by the ceding insurer, and in return, receives the same fixed percentage of the original premium. The reinsurer also pays the same percentage of all losses and loss adjustment expenses. This arrangement provides the ceding insurer with surplus relief and stabilizes underwriting results.
