Royalty interest

A right to a share of the production from a natural resource property, free of the costs of production. This interest is commonly found in oil, gas, and mineral leases, where the owner of the land receives a percentage of the revenue from extracted resources. It represents an ownership stake in the production itself, rather than in the operating company or the land.
