Sponsored captive

An insurance company created by a sponsor, such as an insurer or a consulting firm, that allows multiple unrelated businesses to insure their risks within separate, legally protected cells. Each participant's assets and liabilities are segregated from those of other participants in the captive. This structure is also known as a protected cell company (PCC) or segregated account company.
