Cell captive

A special purpose insurance company structured with a central core and multiple protected cells, each of which is legally segregated from the others. Each cell has its own capital, assets, and liabilities, and underwrites the risks of its owner, functioning as a distinct captive insurer. This structure is legally distinct from a group captive, where members pool risks and share in the entire entity's underwriting results.
