Segregated cell captive (SCC)

A type of captive insurance company structured with a central core and multiple individual cells, where the assets and liabilities of each cell are legally separated from those of other cells. Each cell functions as a distinct insurance entity for its owner, underwriting specific risks, but shares the captive's single legal identity and capital structure. This structure is also known as a protected cell company (PCC) in certain jurisdictions.
