Venturi scrubbers
Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-003474
Air pollution control devices that use a liquid to remove particulate matter and certain gaseous pollutants from an industrial exhaust stream. The polluted gas is accelerated through a constricted section, the venturi throat, where it mixes with and atomizes the scrubbing liquid, capturing the contaminants. These systems are a key engineering control for managing environmental liability and complying with air quality regulations by reducing emissions from manufacturing, chemical processing, and power generation facilities.
